Music is one of the primary sources of "learning material" around here....
and I also listen to but don't enjoy a lot of the music my teens like. I
can't BELIEVE that I sound like my own father used to --- "That isn't even
MUSIC - it is just NOISE!!!!" But- so it goes. I try to let them have it on
as much as I can possibly take. One of the problems around here is the
obsessive nature of each of us -- I get on a certain musical style and I want
to listen to it over and over and over --- and my daughters are the same way.
Sometimes it is opera, sometimes celtic music, sometimes rap or punk or
whatever....

Lucie Caunter

I have been having fun reading this whole exchange. We have an eclectic collection of music cds. Sometime none of us want to listen to what either one of us want to listen to. At their last
birthday, the twins found a solution to our dilemma. They bought each other walkman-cd players. Then, I got one too... Last Friday, after a full day of activities, everyone sat in the living room
reading and listening to a cd of their choice on their own player.
You could say, we were all wired... in peace. We love music, possibly only as much as books.
I have been eliminating gadgets and useless junks these days, but I realized the cd players have become quite useful.
Friendship, from Ottawa
