Sharon, I'm glad my schedule could be of some help to you. I think as
you go you will figure out ways that work customly for you and the
children. We are constantly changing how we do things as we listen to
one another and figure out what is working and what isn't working. I
agree, unschooling is a joy. And it's not just for the older ones.
Well, I think 4H is zoology and and socialization. It also involves a
lot of reading. Having animals, I assume you've needed the vet? You
might ask the vet if Chaelene could hang out at the clinic once in a
while or on a regular basis. I forgot how old she is, and I suppose it
would depend on if you felt it were safe?
I would call unschooling "interest led learning" or "interest based
curriculum" so that it doesn't sound like they are not learning when you
talk to people who can't hardly accept homeschooling, much less "no
requirements". My husband doesn't really get unschooling, because he was
brainwashed by ps to think he was stupid, so he is afraid for his kids to
be stupid, and thinks they should be gifted and advanced students or
something. So I just keep giving him testimonies and reasoning that
support unschooling philosophy. I think unschooling is very good for
children's self image and esteem, because they are involved in their
education instead of being told what and when to learn.

Chaelene would LOOVE something like that. I am so glad you suggested that.
The large animal vet that comes out for our horses is married to another
veterinarian who has a small animal clinic here in town. I will check this
out.
Thanks so much.
