Re: [Unschooling-dotcom] puppets
Joseph Fuerst
I am trying to get things together for my 7 yr old dd's birthday . I had
this idea to have the kids make puppets and put on a puppet show at the end.
Unfortunately, due to a certain Fly lady's influence, I am lacking in
spare socks.
Can someone suggest simple things to make puppets from? I have plenty of
pom-poms, pipe cleaners, scprap materials, scrap felt.....
I've got about 10 kids 7-12 coming.....and 3-5, 3-5 yr olds.

Lunch bags work well.
Also, my kids use popsicle sticks and make flat paper people or
animals and glue them to the sticks and use the sticks as holders.
TP tubes work great. My dd just made some using the top 1/3 of the
tube for the head/face, the middle for a shirt or dress top and the
bottom as the legs/skirt. They look really cool. Feathers and yarn
are a must for my dd.
You could ask moms to bring unmatched socks they have at their house,
and any thing else they would want to donate to make puppets.
I would happily oblige that request from someone.
Have fun!

This is a great idea! I think I'll also call a few non-FLY type
neighbors......I'm sure they've got a few extra socks.
As to Fly lady bonking my nose......the socks are the least of my
problems......I'm turning out to be a FLY-flunkie more often than not LOL!

If you do use socks, Paint rollers are a good way to hold them up
while you decorate them.
