While we are the subject of art...which I am enjoying.... what shall I do with
all this tempra powder I have? I bought it a long time ago, and we never use
it. The colors are all washed out when we make paint, and frankly the kids just
make a huge mess of brown on the paper anyway.
Any creative ideas we can do with it?
Thanks,
Ann

There are homemade sidewalk chalk recipes that use powdered tempera. We made
some one time. It was interesting but not as nice as storebought.

You could give it to a thrift store.

sandpainting. combine the colors with light colored sand, apply glue to the
paper and sprinkle the colored sand on the glue.

You can mix the tempra with glue - or they also make a
special medium-
try- http://www.discountschoolsupply.com
then you cut shapes out of construction paper, say a
butterfly, cut the inside out of the shape (so you
only have the outline of the butterfly and some
interior dividers to separate colors) put the shape on
a surface glue won't stick to (like plastic or foil)
fill the open areas with glue, let dry, and it is sort
of 'stained glass' looking. This works best with small
shapes. Discount school supply sells molds for this
too; and if you order their paper catalog it has lots
of suggestions for this sort of thing along the bottom
of most pages.
