Hi Carrie,
I have not found one yet. But there is a pagan_parenting, and pagan_living
e-group. I have only been on the list for about a week so I cant really say
how informative they are. They both seem pretty good.
If I find one I will let you know, if you find one let me know too.

Here is a link to sign up for a Pagan homeschool newsletter;
www.virtualbirth.com/acorns called 'Acorns' One (I believe they publish
8 times per year) is due to come out at the end of January. There are
other homeschool (pagan?)links on this site as well, I haven't had a
chance to check them out. Deb Joes

Can someone give me a brief definition of what Pagan means? What are the
major tenets?
Thank you!

I would think there already is one but can find out if you would like. I am
on a list called ManyPaths which was set up by a Pagen mother who was asked
by a Christian mother about an inclusive list. I'm sure Barb would know if
there are any Pagen homeschooling lists.

there are several pagan homeschooling lists. At least there were last
summer before I moved and had to cut back on what I was on. Check with
egroups would be my first place to start. You might even look via your
state as well. Here in Connecticut we have CTPaganhomeschool list at
egroups. I believe Virginia has thier own as well. I use to have a list
of them on my website but had to take the site down since I was having
problems with the host.

Ok just did a search and found several at egroups if you type in
homeschooling pagans.

Hopefully this link will help you.

http://www.egroups.com/search?query=homeschooling%20pagans

As for what a pagan is, it is any person who does not follow the bible
(I believe that is the loose definition in the dictionary) Many are
hindu, wiccans, druids and so on. Sorry I can't go on have a cranky
toddler on my lap.

Funny, this has just come up somewhere else...

I just looked at society - education - homeschool -
pagan on egroups and there were 25 listed, not all
actually pagan, but I'm sure there was a list for pagan
unschoolers once upon a time... anyone remember?
Nance?

Does the bible play any part in your life? I mean even as a historical
document. Do you disregard it totally? I have a friend who is a Hindu (from
India) who knows more about the bible and Jesus than most proclaimed
Christians. She also holds Jesus in great esteem as a prophet but not as the
son of God. How does that fit in your beliefs? Religion is one of my
passions. I am so curious. I would appreciate any info. you would be kind
enough to give me. Excuse me if my questions seem silly. Thanks.

I think it depends on the individual. There are so many different forms of
pagan belief. My family considers the bible to be a great work of fiction.
We hold Jesus and what he stood for in high esteem. I do know a lot about
the Bible. I have read the entire book.

We also believe that the all living things are connected. By concentrating
your "energies" you can create change. This is why prayer works. I fully
believe that. Thoughts do carry power. Anyway, we also believe if you do
harm, it will come back to you (everything's connected, right?)

Any more questions, feel free to ask.

I have more questions:

Does the pagan belief systems stem from the Ancient Greeks and Romans, and
their Gods? Do you believe in those Gods?

Or is it something else entirely?

Some people are influenced by the Roman gods some by
the gods in the Norse Mythology, some by Gods of
Celtis. Some draw from all of them when they need the
support of a story or what resonates with them at a
moment of need.

A great book that describes Goddess/ectelctic Neo
pagan family spirituality is Circle Round by Starhawk
and Ann hill and Diana something. It has lots of
activites to do with children that follow the season
of Neo Paganism. It has lots of fun things to do even
if you don't want to be pagan but just want to be more
connected to the Cycles of Nature.

If you really want to do some research on line about
Paganism find do some seraches under this subjects:

Starhawk- author of Spiral Dance the beginnings of the
Neo Pagan movenment as a more public thing

Reclaiming: started by Starhawk

Neo-Pagan

Paganism

Web of Oz: should get you a site of an eclectic pagan
group that I belonged to in Kansas

NHEN web site has a links to paganism

It's really hard to sum up what Paganism is simply
because spirituality isn't ever simple. Do some
research or email me privitely if you want to
understand more.

Peace,
Samantha

For us personally, it is more of the Native American way of belief that all
life is interconnected. We really believe in the "Great Spirit" which is
the energy of life. Again, if you do something to the web (of life), you
will receive it back because we are all interconnected. I don't think our
personal belief system has anything to do with Ancient Greeks and Romans,
mostly Native American.

Thank you so much for the info. I will do some more research on it with
those keywords.

I think that I am going to incorporate some of the pagan holidays into our
lives around here, to go along with the traditional Christian holidays, and
I also want to add the jewish holidays.

I have a few mixed feelings since I am not really Jewish, or Pagan for that
matter. But most people are only minimally Christian and have no problem
celebrating those holidays. I would like my kids to see that there are many
ways of thinking about spirituality, the earth, and everything else.

Hi Carrie. There is one that I belong to called Pagan Unschoolers List, and it can be found at the following
http://lytlwytch.com/mailman/listinfo/pul_lytlwytch.com

Also the
www.LytlWytch.com
site is a Pagan family site which has links to everything from information on homeschooling, family rituals, parenting, interfacing with the public as a pagan family, and an earth friendly/pagan friendly alternative group to Scouts. There is even an article there that I published on what Unschooling means. A friend of mine found a letter there called "A Pagan In Your Classroom" for parents of schooled children to give to teachers to help them understand what being "Pagan" means.

I've recently taken over the ownership of the Pagan Homeschool Ring, and
have begun listing pagan homeschooling e-mail lists (among other
things)--about 20 to 25 so far--on a subpage of the base site for the
ring. If you go to
http://draknet.com/pagan/athterath/HSWebring/GroupList.html you can see
the list. I'm adding to it almost daily, and will soon post the info on
the lists that have been mentioned here which were not already included.
