thanks re medieval
Campbell & Wyman
Thanks Jenn and Ewa for the sites(bookmarked) and Charlotte for the book
recommendation.
I don't remember studying anything medieval in any depth i school and it is
a real delight to learn about it now that the girls are all 'keen as
mustard' to find out about those times.
It should be fun.

I missed the beginning of this discussion, so I hope I'm not repeating
something that was already said. I want to recommend Karen Cushman's book
_Catherine, called Birdy_. It's the fictional diary of a medieval teen with
lots of attitude. I thought it was terrific fun.

It's a book, written in the style of a tabloid. There are various articles
(i.e, MYSTERY PLAGUE ROCKS EUROPE - about the 'black death'; PARISIANS UPSET
AS KING PAVES STREETS - set in 1185 as Paris becomes Europe's 1st city to
have paved streets,) There are even 'advertisements' (like one for
'Spiceworld' which lists typically used spices in the Middle East during
that era)
It's really fun!
Susan
PS> Brooke, Did you get it yet? What do you think?

I haven't received the Medieval Messenger yet...but it is on its way.
I did buy a bunch of wonderful books on the Medieval period on my last trip
to the city (just got home last night) After we do some reading and
learning together I will let the list know what we found to be beneficial
and entertaining.
