CNN.com - Dutch legalise euthanasia - November 28, 2000
John O. Andersen
Today the Netherlands became the first country in the world to legalize
euthanasia. Here is more about that historic decision:
http://www.cnn.com/2000/WORLD/europe/11/28/holland.euthanasia/index.html
This is of interest to Oregonians because Oregon voters have a law which
allows doctor-assisted suicide in the case of terminally ill patients.
Note: My posting this link doesn't imply that I support or reject
euthanasia. I'm only sharing this information because of its historic
importance.

There has been a World Federation Right To Die Society since 1976. The
following countries have member organizations: Australia | Belgium |
Britain | Canada | Colombia | Finland | France | Germany | India | Israel |
Italy | Japan | The Netherlands | Luxembourg | New Zealand | Norway | Spain
| Sweden | Switzerland | United States | Zimbabwe |
Australia has a right to die law also and has for several years. Here's a
link to it: http://www.euthanasia.org/else.html
The Netherlands/Holland has allowed assisted suicide for many years although
there wasn't actually a law defining it there were laws defining a defense
of said action.

Okay, I know this is serious, but yesterday I read that a town in France has
outlawed dying because the cemetaries are full. (really) A rather funny
flip-side to the subject, non?
