Computer game ideas
[email protected]
The time has come that computer games are available at Thrift Stores. I've
been getting them at Goodwill for $3--stuff that was $40 not long ago.
Things by The Learning Company are fun even when the title is boring ("Third
Grade Adventure" is one of Holly's current favorites--puzzles kind of like
those in Zoombinis)
Zoombinis is unparalleled for value and playability, in my opinion.
Thinkin' Things has been good.
The boys like the more complicated castle and army stuff.

The Learning Company will also replace scratched CD's for $10 if you mail
them back in. My boys have also enjoyed "Amazon Trail" "African Trail"
those kinds of adventure games. In "African Trail" you are supposed to be
taking a bike trip through Africa. You have to figure out what supplies you
will need, medicine you will take, and things like that. My 9 year old
would play that game, then pack a back pack, get on his bike and play it for
hours.

Thanks Sandra
I think actually we have a Goodwill pretty close to us. I guess now Ill have
to really learn how to use this computer. I had a CD for an encyclopedia and
I installed it and lost it I think.

You can also buy cd repair kits that come with a liquid and a polishing
cloth. The data is actually below the surface and not damaged by the
scratches. Cleaning up the surface allows the data to be read again. Most
stores that sell cds don't sell the kits for obvious reasons. I found one
on-line though.

Have you tried this, and does it really work? Do you have the address
handy?

I agree, Sandra and I'd add to that
the Incredible Toon Machine.

We just bought a bottle of the stuff for $10 at Hastings last week and then
saw at the other end of the checkout counter a $3 kit. So it goes! <g>

Haven't tried it yet. I read about it in either Fortune or the Wall Street
Journal. I can't remember which, but those are the only business periodicals
I read. Here are a few of links including a product review.
