Celebrate Ben Franklin's 300th Birthday!
A Penny Flipped is Science Learned
Tuesday, January 17, 2006
On January 17, 2006, students around the world will commemorate Benjamin
Franklin's 300th birthday by participating in a common scientific
enterprise.
Students around the world will flip a coin ten times and then enter their
data at The Franklin Institute Online, demonstrating the power of a single
coin when students around the world collectively engage in a common
scientific experiment to determine, once and for all, if "heads" or "tails"
occurs more frequently in coin flips.

Yeah, but I'll be checking in on Tuesday to see what the "answer" is---I bet Ben a kiss that the winner would be tails! <g>

S Drag-teine
Etymologically derived through Middle English from the Latin second-type conjugation verb "stŭdērĕ", which means "to direct one's zeal at"; hence a student is one who directs zeal at a subject. Therefore by the very definition we are the only ones who have students.
And as K-12 is only a level indicator like age is and the Earth is a community... I think this is a wonderful large scale activity that we (my son and I) do not have regular access to and I thank you who shared this with us.
