If any of you have contacted me before directly via email (Debra
Rossing, you're on my list),you're on my list of Yahoo contact list.
My Yahoo ID was lyeping2607@....

If you received an invite to join Grouply, seemingly coming from me -
IGNORE IT PLEASE!!! It didn't come from me.

The same situation happened to me a few days ago, i received an
invite from another mother in another unschooling list. I responded
to the invite, and found out later that she was tricked into joining
too. Now I can't access my Yahoo emails and groups at all. It
doesn't recognised new nor old password. It doesn't even recognised
my answer to my security questions, so I can't even reset my
password.

After being logged out for another 24 hours AAAArrrggg!!!!, I've
decided to just get a new yahoo account, re-joined all groups, and
post this warning, and I hope I've got to everyone just in time.
The moderator from my local group did get a Grouply invite,
supposingly from "someone who knew me". Scary.

I just got an invite from Steph "rainedaywoman" saying she shares the
unschooling list with me and asks me to join Grouply. This is the
second invitation from someone I don't know (haven't even exchanged
yahoo board messages). I have heard nothing but bad things about
Grouply, but I don't have any source suggestions for you to verify the
stories with. Another group I belong to, the moderator banned Grouply
members to protect the group.

Anyway, I just want to give Steph/Rainedaywoman (if she is even a real
person on this list) a heads up in case she did not really send this
message. And, a second BEWARE to the rest of the group.

People who have joined grouply did not realize that it will automatically send out invitations to people based on what is in your email. It apparently goes through your contacts, inbox, etc and pulls email addresses. There has been a lot of controversy over this on many groups.

Yes, I caught just before it was sent out when I saw my contacts come up as
checked off. I fell for this already with Reunion.com and received several
worried emails wondering what was going on.

Ugh, invasion!

This is Steph (yes I am real) I had not heard anything negative about grouply and even googled it and nothing came up. It appeared safe. I had been recieveing a number of invites from people in groups I was familiar with so I clicked to check out what it was since it seemed a large number of friends were joining. I had no idea that it was auto generating messages. IT had not been even 12 hours since I clicked to see what grouply was about when someone messaged me letting me know what was going on. I had actually been banned for several groups because of it and had no idead at all what was going on. I wish those mods would have emailed me about it because I have been a victim of this site as well. Anyway, I spent half of yesterday making peace, creating new email accounts, deleteing old nicks, chaging passwords, etc etc to secure my email and profile. I was able to get onto grouply and delete (as far as I am aware) any trace of me and sent very worded email to the creators of groupley. It seems though their intentions were innocent they have much work to do on that site as to how the system handles invites and acsesses group information. I got apologies back from them but the damage has been done and I am voicing my opinion to everyone I am in contact with in groups and email.

I have sent the mods in the groups I am in messages explaining the situation asking them to warn their groups as a whole. I have also rejoined many of my groups under new accounts just in case. I deeply apologize to anyone who recieved messages seemingly from me. It was NOT me that sent those invite but auto generated junk from grouply masked as my email and identity.
