Hi All...

Wondering if anyone could suggest an online video game for ds, age 9 and dd,
age 11. They're not into war games, are on quite often with Webkins and
other favorites are the likes of Sonic the Hedgehog and Avitar.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks...

My boys (7 and 10) like PBS Kids and PBS Kids Go. They have links to
games connnected to PBS shows. Right now, Cyberchase seems to be their
favorite game at the PBS site.

Hi Lisa,

My 7 yr old DS is currently on Disney Toon Town Online community. It's all about earning jellybeans (currency), making lots of toon friends, fighting off all suited corporate figures called Cogs, changing lovely toon town into grey corporate buildings). Pretty complex with lots of activites within it other than just rescuing building and fighting off Cogs.

Bigfishgames.com has a lot of online games.
Lego.com, hotwheels.com are a couple that my kids keep asking for.

Unless you're referring to MMORPGs?

My 2 sons, 8 and 6 (even the 3yo sometimes) love the games there. And
they are plentiful, and really fun. Four wheeling, flight simulators,
brain teasers, all kinds of stuff.

My kids really liked Neopets at that age. My daughter (now 11) also loves
Webkins, and says she seconds someone else's Club Penguin suggestion.

Try Maple Story http://maplestory.nexon.net
<http://maplestory.nexon.net> . They might also want to visit Imbee at
http://imbee.com <http://imbee.com> . Imbee is a social networking site
for the tween crowd, sort of the next step after Club Penguin.

I recommend that you visit Gamesparentsteachers.com at
http://www.gamesparentsteachers.com
<http://www.gamesparentsteachers.com> to find tools aimed at
encouraging a conversation about games between kids and parents. This
is one of Marc Prensky's sites. He is the author of "Don't Bother Me
Mom - I'm Learning!" which argues that electronic game playing is
beneficial to "digital native" kids.

I've also been posting a series of articles on Wired Learning on my
Living By Learning blog site at
http://www.onlivingbylearning.blogspot.com
<http://www.onlivingbylearning.blogspot.com> . The latest article is
titled Explore The Wired World With Your Kids
<http://onlivingbylearning.blogspot.com/2007/11/explorethe-wired-world-w\
ith-your-kids.html> , and it has a list of suggestions for surfing the
internet.

Bon voyage on the digital highway, Sandra
