I've seen a lot mentioned about blogs lately. I have maintained a
website for my kids' pics before, but never a true blog. Are there
places that offer free space for blogs or do you use your internet
server's space?

I use blogger.com -- It's totally free -- they give you a .blogspot.com address, and the blog design and posting options are really easy to manage/use. Most of the other unschooling bloggers I know also use blogger.
