Later note:
It's all Kelly's fault...when I asked her at the Life is Good Conference if anyone would be interested in coming to Costa Rica for a conference, she allowed as how it was quite possible. So think about brightening up the end of 2008 with a visit to the tropics. I'm aiming for late November or early December 2008, which gives everyone time to save up and plan, and gives me the time it takes to make something happen in the Laid Back Latin world. From: Sharon & Dick smwrhm@racsa.co.cr Date: June 7, 2007 2:43:27 PM MDT To: LifeisGoodconference@yahoogroups.com Subject: [LifeisGoodconference] Pura Vida Conference Reply-To: LifeisGoodconference@yahoogroups.com
Yes, I WILL get a site set up for this...I'll borrow this space for the moment.
I've been zipping around, talking to all and sundry about an unschooling meeting (not sure of the format yet) here in Costa Rica. I've had messages from 10 or so families saying they're seriously interested. I've found a really good possibility...it's a hotel at the beach, about an hour and a half from the capital, San Jose. It seemed likely to me that families coming here would rather have a beach handy than the relatively congested capital city. A combination can easily be arranged.
I spoke today with the person in charge of the most promising option, and wanted to let people know that the game is still afoot. The present range of prices (before negotiation) is about $70-$100 depending on space. Plain doubles up to an apartment or two that sleeps two families. There are about 50 rooms. Might have to consider nearby space for overflow, but I still have no true idea of how many we might be. My proposed dates would be November-early December 2008. Gives time for people to save up, and gives us a shot at good weather.
Feedback is welcome...I'll be back with more information.
