I love this thread too! I think this is one of the best ways to show especially the newcomers what unschooling looks like! I have just had so much fun reading everyone's responses to this question! I find myself sitting down a bit more to check to see if there are anymore to read. LOL! Unschooling is just beautiful...

Here is the latest at our house. We just had a fun game of soccer in our backyard, Jonah(8) and I. He was the 'twisters' and I was the 'comets'. He eventually won. We then ran to the store and picked up some items we needed and for bonus we found easy bake oven refills on clearance for only $1.18 each!!! Savannah(5) was so proud. Jonah is now drawing on the couch to a Thomas Kincade instructional video we got at the library last night, and Savannah is in the middle of what daddy is doing, which is getting our new stereo system out of the box and hooking it up. Oliviah(1) has hand fulls of markers carrying them around, and a couple in her mouth. She is so proud of herself for holding so many!
I love my life too!! Such fun!
Laura

Have a Nice Day!

Well, "at this moment", my kids are asleep :o).

But, last night my son was playing his favorite computer game for a LOOONG time, as usual. My daughter made a birthday card for her "boyfriend" (they are 10 years old). She wants to go shopping for him this afternoon.

I went to bed before everyone else because I was so tired from being at the campus all day for orientation, but only after I browsed Sandra's unschooling math article, and browsed mathcats, and played some of the microworlds games.

Oh, and my husband and I sat down and discussed unschooling. He doesn't really get it I don't think, and he doesn't really say much until he gets really bothered about something else, and then he throws unschooling into the mix of stuf he doesn' t like.

Anyway, we talked about unschooling math, and he told me about a conversation he and Jenna had about the new housing developments that are coming, and the sewer plant, and how many times we flush the toilet and how much water, etc etc etc. and that the sewer plant would not be large enough to handle the added load.

So, I guess this isn't really a "this moment" post, but it was an interesting evening anyway :o).

Kristen

** Well, "at this moment", my kids are asleep :o).**

Mine just wandered down the hall from his bedroom to the computer room.

Last night I said "Who wants to watch Whose Line?" so we caught one and
a half episodes. Then the live episode of Will and Grace and a chunk of
Fiddler on the Roof. (We recorded the remaining hour as we were all
sleepy at 10. OK, yeah, I noodged towards "let's go to bed soon" as my
husband's workday starts inflexibly early.)

We spent a lot of time at the park yesterday, so I'm anticipating my son
will want a pretty quiet day at home today, and that I'll do some
housework and errands before we settle down with our Netflix. (We have
Guns, Germs and Steel and The Terminator -- wondering if the two will
cross polinate any.)
