The Always Learning discussion has a live version, sometimes, "Always Learning Live." :-)

It's not too late to sign up for one in Maine, at the end of this month: http://allinmaine.blogspot.com
I've been getting ready to leave for Maine in less that a week, to spend time with Laurie Wolfrum there. Keith is going with me, too.

But today I worked on the one for December in Albuquerque. The blog is set up, I think all the links are working (though there will be more and better information as time goes on) and some speakers are confirmed:

Hema Bharadwaj; Julie, James and Adam Daniel; Jill Parmer and Luke Davidson; Me! (and possible one or two others, which will be announced or not as I know more).

If you think you might possibly want to go to Albuquerque between Christmas and New Year's, please subscribe to this blog so you'll know what's up!

I hope some who have been here before will be back, and some who haven't been will come and see. The hotel is nice (and NOT expensive—nice rooms about $50 a night for our conference rate). It's peaceful and roomy and fun.

Too much travel has kicked my butt in the past few years. I want to stay home and do the Albuquerque gatherings every December, rather than try to do remote "Always Learning Live" events. As long as this wonderful site is available to us at these rates, I should stay and invite people to come to see me here.

Albuquerque is beautiful, and the site is less than two miles, straight shot from "The A-1 Car Wash" from Breaking Bad. Seriously.

Both are right off Eubank Blvd. And Walt's house, if you're driving that far anyway, is just another mile or so, a few blocks off Eubank and Comanche.

(End of Breaking Bad moment)

Best wishes to all of you whether you can come to hear me and some bright, happy unschoolers in Maine or New Mexico or not. :-) Thanks for thinking about it, even for a moment here. :-)

I will be there next year!! Albuquerque 2015!

Hearing Sandra and Jill is awesome. Meeting them is amazing. Seeing other unschooling families with their kids really helps if you are new too  and for reluctant spouses!

=-I will be there next year!! Albuquerque 2015!-=-

That is the plan, but I haven't been telling everyone because some might say "Oh, yeah... can't go this year because I'm waiting for Alex and Marta in 2015!

On one hand, it's good to know what the next phase is, but on the other hand, we can't guarantee that people will be available or able to make it and whatnot...

But yes.  That IS the plan :-)   Marta and Alex, and (I HOPE) Rose Sorooshian, and maybe Pam (but we don't know what will be going on with Pam and her other daughters and grandchild(ren)... never know, over a year away...)

I loved hearing you speak in Texas this spring! I just put it on our calendar for 2014! Looks like only a 7 hour drive from Boulder, CO!

Ali, Jon and our 4 sons (14,11,6,4)

Sandra,

I have been interested in attending this event ever since I first heard you speak at Good Vibrations (and Life is Good) some years ago. Usually we are in Tasmania with my husbands family every Christmas, but this year we are in town (CA) so it actually something I can consider this year.

Both my sons though had a question concerning the gaming room. They asked if it was a room for playing games, or a room for people who were going to be "gaming", as in, having a good wi-fi  connection.

I was going to write privately, but thought maybe some other families had the same question.

Hoping we can attend this year.

-=-Both my sons though had a question concerning the gaming room. They asked if it was a room for playing games, or a room for people who were going to be "gaming", as in, having a good wi-fi  connection.  -=-

Both.  It's a big room and we put tables up against the wall where the outlets are, with power strips.  And there's enough room left for three or four big tables for cards or board games.  At night, it fills up with raucous table games, but in the daytime, it's reserved for older kids to play quietly.

It's the room between the entryway/lobby (of the conference center; no one is using it but us) and the speakers' room.

There's some info near the bottom of this page:  http://sandradodd.com/all/faq

The room reserved for younger kids (also to play quietly) is on the other side of the speakers and doesn't have an easy exit.  Emergency exit, but not people passing in and out, so the youg children are more secure that way.

Each of those has a wall of windows.

On the other two sides (corner) of the main speakers' space are carpetted hallways where kids can get a good run.  Sometimes there are hotel guests on their way to a restaurant that's attached, so kids need to not run them over, but this time of year is NOT a tourist season and there won't be many people who aren't with the conference.

There's a map here:

it doesn't show the hallways, and where it says "Sandia," that's not really there.  (It's like showing Hawaii off Baja just to get it on the map.)
The hallways are along the north (top) and to the east (right) of the main speaker's room.

If you look at photos from former conferences, you might be able to get an idea of ths sizes of the various rooms.
